CODHAB Collective Housing Units Competition - Sobradinho
In response to the social housing competition proposed for the city of Sobradinho, the project is configured by two towers connected by a metal walkway, leaving voids between them for natural lighting and ventilation entry. This proposal ensures cross ventilation for all housing units.
The project takes into account the master plan that requires ground floor on pilotis and, in this way, part of the public sidewalk was included under the pilotis, serving the path to EC 10 school. Transversely, a canopy highlights not only the access to the building, but invites the user to enjoy the square within the lots. Once sheltered under the building, the resident’s path passes through access control and divides between the two vertical circulation towers, positioned at the extremities.
The towers, in structural masonry – today the most economical option – transfer their load to a system of beams and pilotis on the ground floor and basement, in cast-in-place reinforced concrete. The lateral slopes help with natural light entry into the basement as well as reducing costs with retaining walls.
