Vitória Eurico de Aguiar Salles Airport
The project includes a new Passenger Terminal (TPS), Fire Department Building (ECB), Control Tower (TWR) and Utilities Center (CUT), in addition to parking areas, entrance gates and road system. For the TPS, the design concept was to create a large longitudinal axis that concentrates the technical areas and vertical circulation.
The goal was also to distribute functions in a way that ensures fluid spaces with great transparency. Another important point was the structural system adopted: the objective was to promote program flexibility, allowing future adjustments without interfering with airport operations. For this purpose, a mixed structural system of steel and reinforced concrete was proposed. Additionally, the roof design received special treatment to avoid point reflections on aircraft and to be an element of surprise for those viewing from the plane – the fifth facade, fundamental for airports.
