Recife International Airport | Guarapes

The renovation project of Recife Airport proposes a series of interventions in the north pier to optimize flows, expand usable areas, and reduce travel distances. The expansion of the international departure lounge, with higher ceilings and better utilization of the ground floor, eliminates previously considered lost areas, such as ramps and voids. The international remote boarding lounge was relocated to the beginning of the pier, shortening passenger routes. The reorganization of ramps and access points allowed for a more than 20% increase in commercial area.

Other changes include relocating the international VIP lounge and administrative area to the first floor, eliminating the need for a second floor and simplifying the terminal’s structure. Improvements were also added, such as a second restroom block, a new escalator to the domestic baggage claim area, and redistribution of technical areas for operational efficiency. The project also includes a reversible access between international and domestic security checkpoints.

Overall, the proposal optimizes space, reduces construction costs, and significantly improves the user experience, resulting in a more functional, compact terminal that is integrated with the existing building.
