Fernando de Noronha Airport

The study for the expansion of the passenger terminal at Fernando de Noronha Airport was developed in partnership with Triptyque Architecture in 2022. The proposal seeks to harmoniously integrate the new terminal with the existing structure and the island’s natural landscape.

Located on the isolated island of Fernando de Noronha, distant from the mainland, the project was conceived with a focus on construction logistics efficiency. To achieve this, an industrialized construction solution using glued laminated timber was adopted, allowing components to be transported by boat to the small local pier, from where they proceed to the construction site.

Considering the island’s unique character, the terminal was designed as a welcoming space connected to the environment. One of the highlights is the large service veranda that opens to the rich vegetation and stunning marine scenery around it, providing passengers with a unique experience.
