Barra de Pesquisa Minimalista Integrada

Dr. Leite Lopes State Airport - Ribeirão Preto

The renovation of the Ribeirão Preto State Airport terminal doubles passenger capacity and transforms the experience for those departing from or arriving in one of the main cities in the interior of São Paulo. The proposal emphasizes mixed-use land, integrating commercial and service activities with the airport, promoting greater economic and social dynamism for the region.

The front boulevard functions as an extension of the terminal, offering a hybrid space for pre-boarding and social interaction. To avoid halting airport operations and meet the demand for quick execution, wood was chosen as a material for immediate visual impact in the restoration. The use of wood offers the advantage of providing an efficient construction process in the expansion of an existing building, using a clean construction method with prefabricated components.

The development of leisure and cultural areas promotes integration between the airport and the local community, especially in the Vila Elisa and Jardim Aeroporto neighborhoods.

In contrast to Marc Augé’s concept of “non-place,” the project encourages interaction between travelers and the local community, creating a lasting environment that redefines the airport as an active part of the urban fabric.
