Ambev Panama

Cervecería Nacional (CN), Panama’s leading beverage manufacturer, decided to build a new brewery due to the limitations of its Pasadena Brewery plant. Located in downtown Panama City, the factory is in a congested area, and the future construction of a metro station would aggravate logistical problems, as well as cause the loss of access and parking.

The new unit will be built in Panama Pacific, a Special Economic Area (SEA) that offers tax incentives and a simplified bureaucratic system. With the capacity to produce 3.2 million hectoliters of beer per year and employ about 500 people, the factory’s design considered a future third phase of expansion.

The project prioritized functionality and work environment. A main circulation axis was created to separate pedestrian and cargo vehicle traffic, minimizing accident risks. The pedestrian walkways were designed with coverage, an essential measure against constant rainfall.

The project design was based on five concepts: making the industrial area more attractive, creating pocket parks with green areas, including a pub connected to the brewing room and a biergarten, and promoting transparency by opening the brewing room to the public with a large window so people can see the production process.
