Belo Horizonte - Confins International Airport
The Belo Horizonte International Airport project consists of renovating the existing terminal (TPS1) in conjunction with the construction of a new terminal (TPS2). The renovation project proposes relocating the commercial areas to the air side, in addition to renovating the building to comply with the new safety standards.
The original project, by architect Milton Ramos, is a legacy for Brazilian architecture, which the renovation tries to preserve as much as possible while adapting it to new needs. The concept for the implementation of the new terminal was to explore the existing maneuvering yard by tilting the terminal in order to guarantee the circulation of aircraft and expand future areas of commercial exploitation on the land side. This solution created a diagonal pier that minimized interference with the road system, avoiding unnecessary additional structures.
