Transfer Stations SP and Retrofit
Originally conceived in 2004 for an SPTrans competition, the project sought to solve the challenge of creating bus shelters that could be installed in various locations, such as central medians and inclined public walkways, without interfering with the urban landscape. The adopted solution was the creation of longitudinal porticos with a steel structure that gives a sense of continuity between the floor and the ceiling. This approach, in addition to conferring an aerodynamic and technological aesthetic, ensured lightness and flexibility, reducing the need for large foundations and intervention in the environment.
Fifteen years later, Bacco was again contracted to renovate these stations. The renovation included the installation of new glass, electrical systems, lighting, and information panels for passengers. Other improvements were the replacement of the roofing material and the implementation of accessibility features, such as tactile flooring. The aim of the renovation was to transform the stations into “luminaires” and meeting points in the city.
The design of the stations, with their unique shape, openings on both sides, and rounded ends, was so significant that a sketch and a model of the work became part of the collection at the Pompidou Museum in Paris. This inclusion recognizes the stations as an example of urban design and architectural intervention that enriches the existing environment with a clean and transparent aesthetic.
