UNIFESP Osasco Competition

During the development process of the Osasco Student Housing Unit for UNIFESP, the question about the relationship between the city and the object was constantly raised and, ultimately, became the central point that defined the project guidelines.

As we understand that large contemporary metropolises are idealized to be centers of production and consumption, in addition to advertising and images, we consequently have an excess of information, noise, and constructions that make the urban environment overwhelming. Thus, in the implementation of the housing, we sought horizontality by alternating filled and empty spaces, highlighting the search for what is small.

Regarding the program, instead of simply stacking activities in a large building, we opted for distributing such content throughout the lot, creating a plan that allows the urban condition to flourish on the site.
Thus, we ended up connecting the multiplicity of activities through an internal network of streets, squares, and common rooms in pursuit of promoting an environment focused on the social interaction of residents who are also dispersed throughout the lot, as an extension of the city within the campus.
